My Dear Friends..........

The only thing I can think to say is....WOW!!!!

45 people turned out this evening for a night of good food and fun at Bobby
Cure's Beach House for our monthly Sparta Family and Friends Dinner. What a
crowd!!!!!! Don't forget to go to our web site - www.knightsofsparta.com -
to see pictures of all of our events in the "gallery" section.

Our dinners are becoming more and more of a success as the years go by.
Please consider joining us in the future.....and remember....you don't have
to be a Spartan to join us. Everyone is welcome.......

Our next dinner is tentatively scheduled for Thursday - July 17th - Jaeger's
Seafood on Clearview in Elmwood (watch for emails to confirm date and place)

See you at the dinners....and at all of our Spartan events.......

With 140 happy people on hand, The Knights put on a spectacular spread with
"The Best" fried catfish, hot dogs, potato salad, 2 kinds of coleslaw, baked

down....not to mention all of the prizes given away and the GREAT music.

My deepest thanks to ALL of the Sparta Officers who made this event
shine.....and to their Ladies!!!!!!!!!! You are "THE
BEST"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also our salute goes out to our reigning King and Queen, Bob Geraci and
Shayna Lynn Beevers.....and our incoming King and Queen, Frenchie Cheramie

My Dear Friends.......

This evening Syd and I attended the Annual Krewe of Thoth Catfish Party at
the wonderful Thoth Den.

This was a very happy evening for us, because it is the first time in over a
week that Syd has gotten out and about (having spent 5 days in the hospital
with pneumonia). Some of you knew this....and we both thank you for your
thoughts and prayers. I am happy to report that Syd is doing better and she
enjoyed her few hours out to the max!

Getting back to the evening.....Thoth, once again, showed all in attendance
a GREAT time. When it's Thoth.......it's FUN!!!!!!!

Contrats to the Captain, Officers, and Krewe of Thoth on another fantastic
evening....I hope that our Spartan Fish Fry on May 25th is as joyous an
occasion!

My Dear Friends.......

Today it was my pleasure to march in the last parade of the season, The
Irish/Italian Parade, down Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie.

I say it was my pleasure because a very dear friend, Dan Kelly, served this
year as the Irish Grand Marshall for the parade. I could not think of a
better representative for our community (and all of Ireland) then
Dan........and he had a ball with it! Dan always does things "first class"
and began the day by having all of us who marched with him meet at his
business, Beads by the Dozen. We were then taken by limo busses to Mo's
Chalet for breakfast. After the parade we were all then taken back to BBD
to meet our families, who were also invited to view the parade at the
stands, for a buffet and get-together......what a treat!

It was also a real treat to march with so many of my friends from Endymion
(and Sparta) as "the gang" really came out to be with Dan. Even Mardi
Gras's "Mr. Everything", Arthur Hardy, was on hand to march with Dan's
supporters. Of course Kenner Mayor and former Grand Marshall (and I think
he even has something to do with a certain large Carnival Krewe), Ed Muniz,
and his lovely Wife, Peggy, were on hand to liven up the parade. What would
the Irish/Italian Parade be without Ed....Hail to the Mayor!

I also know that many of our Zeus friends, as well as many other krewes,
were well represented in other marching groups and on the floats.

A big salute also goes to Sal Gambino, the Italian Grand Marshall, who had a
wonderful time, too.

I close with a note of sadness that we will have to wait a while for the
next parade....but, it will be even the more glorious for the wait!

HAIL TO DAN KELLY.......THE IRISH GRAND MARSHALL OF THE 2008 IRISH/ITALIAN
PARADE!!!!!!!!!!!

My Dear Friends.......

First......a very Happy St. Joseph's Day to you all.

Syd and I (accompanied by Centurions' Captain Emeritus, Maurice Olivier, his
lovely Lady, Cherrie, and our across the street neighbor, Mary) have just
returned from the St. Joseph's Day Altar that is annually constructed by the
family of Spartan Officer (and reigning King) Bob Geraci (again, under the
direction of Family Matriarch, Francis, Bob's beautiful Wife, Carol, and
Carol's Sister, Mary). I know that many Spartans (including Spartan
Officer...and heir apparent to the throne....Frenchie Cheramie and his
wonderful Wife, Kathleen; Spartan Officer's Wife, Bonnie Suthon; Spartan
Officer, Michael Vincent and his beautiful Mother, Jean; and Spartan Captain
Emeritus, Charles Andrews, and his lovely Wife, Patricia) visited the
altar....and loved it!

What a "Labor or Love and Devotion" it always is. On St. Joseph's Day the
Geraci Family feeds hundreds of people from all walks of life who come to
view the altar and share in the beauty of the celebration.

On behalf of the Geraci Family, I want to thank all of their family and
friends who came to share the joy of the Feast of St. Joseph with
them......and on behalf of all of us, I want to thank the Geraci Family for
continuing this loving tradition for our community.........

My Dear Friends........

Today (and it was a BEAUTIFUL day) Syd and I spent our usual "Metairie St.
Patrick's Parade Day" at the home of Doug and Sue Smith (friends for over 30
years.....boy, are we getting old).

The parade rolled to blue skies and huge crowds.

We saw so many people that we know in the parade. Endymion Captain (and
Kenner Mayor), Ed Muniz, was there, of course, and gave us a "lucky
bean".....Thanks Ed. Our good friend, and Mayor's
"Right Hand Man", Mike Yenni, as also there to wish us well.

Of course, Endymion was well represented with their usual "packed float"
featuring Peggy and the Muniz family, Endymion President, Dan Kelly, the
Theresa (Dan's Lovely Wife) and Daughter, Shannon (beautiful former Queen of
Endymion). Many more of our Endymion friends were also on hand....and very
generous with the throws!!!!

Thor Captain, Mac Cantrell, along with his lovely Wife, Kathy, and Captain's
Shadow, Austin, were on one of the many Thor Floats in the parade....having
a GREAT time!

Long time Spartan and Iris King, Gene Cottingham, along with his Wife....and
3-time former Iris Queen, Bea Cottingham, were on hand and looked like they
were having a wonderful time.

We also saw many, many more friends.....and had a SUPER day..........

Hail to the Irish (and honorary Irish) for a WONDERFUL PARADE!!!!!!!!!

Best........
